About Us

Wakey Wakey ARTS is an organisation with a huge heart, which seeks to improve the lives of children and young people through the power of participatory arts. We have lived experience of life getting messy, and we want young people to know that this is okay, and that the arts can be a brilliant place to find positive forms of expression.

We work on a funded basis to deliver projects within education, healthcare and with youth organisations/local authorities, to bring professional arts experiences to those who might not usually get the chance.

We also work on a funded basis to commission works of art which can benefit those same audiences, for example, children’s books and dance/theatre shows. We use these opportunities to communicate important messages, for example, about the importance of boundaries and self-worth in children and young people.

Finally, we deliver dance and play classes within the community and education, in order to prevent/reduce social isolation, and to expose young people to the joy of movement, music and props as forms of play.

In all of our work, we seek to support arts practitioners in their own creative careers, by offering paid employment and opportunities to diversify their offer through training and cross-sector learning. This also includes working with young adults who wish to work in the sector, but who are struggling to get a foothold.

We have personally experienced the transformative/nourishing value of the arts, and we think it provides a brilliant place to work and learn.

Please get in touch if you’d like to know more, or if you’d like to work together.
